NEWS FOR 2012

Lots of changes yet again for 2012.
The Gardens were again looking stunning in 2011; the Rhododendrons were flowering in profusion. You wouldn't believe you were at the same place. We have been trimming trees to allow in more light. This needs to be done annually. There is so much more to see; more flowers, more plants, more varieties. Always a fantastic display.

Remember 'Dunge Valley Rhododendron Gardens' is only open in
March, April, May and June;
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays.

Special Charity Days in May!
New in 2012 we will open for Charity on Every Wednesday in May.

Come and enjoy this peaceful, tranquil setting in the rolling
Pennine Hills of rural East Cheshire.

Double Hellebore

Double Hellebore Month
March 1st - 31st 2012

Each year the demand for these beautiful Hellebores has been growing and as they are all seed grown with every one different, so the only way to get exactly what you want is to see them in flower and choose.

We will have a wide selection of colours along with some single and anemone flowering varieties. These are all full size flowering plants in 3 litre pots.
May Rhododendrons & Blue Poppies

Rhododendron and Blue Poppy Month
May 1st - 31st 2012

In May the Gardens are awash with colour from the myriad of Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Magnolias and the sound of Skylark and Curlew filling the air making this a magical time to visit. We have gone out of our way to have particular hybrid Rhododendrons that reflect the best possible older hybrids, such as the stunning scented Rh. ‘Loderi King George’ and latest selections, such as Rh. ‘Lemon Dream’ and Rh. 'Midnight Mystique' which will be available for sale in the Hardy Plant Nursery.

We have been famous over the years for the magnificent Meconopsis x sheldonii, the Blue Poppy. We find this hybrid between M. grandis and M. betonicifolia is the most reliable offering an outstanding large sky blue flower which comes up year after year.

Azalea 'Maria Elena'

Late Azalea, Rose and Perennial Month
June 1st - 30th 2012

Into June there are still lots of Rhododendrons flowering, and the late Azaleas give extra colour in the woodland area. The new growth on the Rhododendrons is fresh and beautiful.

Now the Roses start to flower and the scent is lovely around the Gardens.

Also the Perennials come into their own, not only in the main boarders but around the rest of the Gardens.

The birds are still producing young and the blackbird excels himself in song.
